New York, NY (May 17, 2019) – NAM (National Arbitration and Mediation), one of the nation's leading providers of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services, is proud to announce that it has become a 2019 sponsor of the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers (NYSATL). The Academy has more than 2,800 members that include plaintiff and defense attorneys, members of the judiciary and others in the legal profession from every corner of New York State.

As part of this inaugural sponsorship, NAM will partner with NYSATL to conduct two 60-minute Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programs during the fall of 2019. The programs will feature two of NAM's esteemed neutrals, Hon. Elizabeth Bonina (Ret.) and Susan Hernandez, Esq.. The seminars, Settling Disputes through Arbitration and Mediation: Best Practices and Tips from Two Neutrals, will be held in Manhattan and Long Island, NY.

Hon. Elizabeth Bonina (Ret.)

Judge Bonina has arbitrated and mediated a myriad of case types including employment, professional malpractice, premises liability, labor law, sports and entertainment, products liability and personal injury. In 2018, for the sixth year in a row, she was voted a Top Ten Individual Arbitrator in New York State in the New York Law Journal Annual Reader Rankings Survey and was voted #1 in 2013, 2014 and 2015 in that same survey.  She has also been ranked one of the Top Ten Mediators in the state for nine consecutive years.

 

Susan Hernandez, Esq.

In 2018, Ms. Hernandez was voted the #1 Mediator in New York State for the second year in a row in the New York Law Journal Reader Rankings Survey.  In 2012, She was appointed to spearhead the Mediation Pilot Program in the Bronx Supreme Court, administered by the Appellate Division, First Department and the Bronx County Supreme Court. Her mediation experience includes a range of case types that include personal injury, real property/partition contracts, employment, discrimination and sexual harassment matters.  Ms. Hernandez is a staunch supporter of women's rights and frequently lectures on ways to establish procedures and policies to increase the appointment of women and minorities in the courtroom and as arbitrators and mediators in ADR.
