NAM'S HONORABLE PETER B. SKELOS TO SPEAK ON LABOR LAW AT CLM – LONG ISLAND CHAPTER CONFERENCE

New York, NY (June 7, 2019) – NAM (National Arbitration and Mediation), one of the nation's leading alternative dispute resolution (ADR) firms, in conjunction with the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM) – Long Island Chapter, will participate in a 3-hour CLE seminar entitled Labor Law Round Up: Appellate Decisions and More. The program will be held at the Hilton Long Island / Huntington, 598 Broad Hollow Road, Melville, New York on Wednesday, June 12th from 7 p.m.to 10 p.m.

Hon. Peter B. Skelos, a former Associate Justice of the Appellate Division, 2nd Department, will join a panel discussion with other experienced litigation attorneys, to educate claims, risk management and legal professionals with the most recent Appellate Division decisions on cases involving New York's Scaffold Law and on the issue of damages. The presentation will provide insight and instruction to all attendees, offering practical advice on how to be more efficient and effective in persuading the Appellate Division and Trial Judges.

In addition to having spent 11 years on the Appellate court, Judge Skelos is well-versed in the law and is a highly regarded mediator and arbitrator for NAM. He has arbitrated and mediated cases that include construction, commercial, professional liability, insurance coverage, matrimonial, medical malpractice and personal injury matters. As a former appellate judge, he has the ability to fairly and expertly identify and resolve disputed questions of law. In 2018, for the third year in a row, Judge Skelos was voted a Top Ten Mediator by The New York Law Journal Annual Reader Rankings Survey and for the second straight year was named a National Law Journal Alternative Dispute Resolution Champion, as part of a select group of only 46 nationwide (2018, 2017).
