CLE WEBINAR: HON. JOHN G. INGRAM (Ret.) TO PRESENT “MARITIME LAW 101 AND INTRODUCTION TO PERSONAL INJURY AND MEDICAL MALPRACTICE ON THE HIGH SEAS”

John G. Ingram (Ret.) has been invited to present a CLE webinar to myLawCLE entitled, Maritime Law 101 and Introduction to Personal Injury and Medical Malpractice on the High Seas. This live streaming presentation is opened to the public and will be held on Friday, April 30th beginning at 2 p.m. ET.
The general maritime law of the United States traces its historic roots to legal principles that predate the founding of the country. So critical was this area of the law to a fledgling nation that the founding fathers agreed that federal courts, not state courts, would exercise admiralty jurisdiction and specifically incorporated same into Article III of the Constitution. Despite the agreement on its national importance and hundreds of years of jurisprudence, questions involving maritime law and admiralty jurisdiction are still evolving. This course will address common principles of maritime law including admiralty jurisdiction; what constitutes a maritime claim; what is a vessel; and what are the navigable waters of the United States.
Judge Ingram, also known as “Captain Ingram,” will present a program aimed at guiding attendees in navigating the waters of maritime laws relating to personal injury and medical malpractice.

Honorable John G. Ingram (Ret.) is a member of NAM'S (National Arbitration and Mediation) panel of neutrals and is available to arbitrate and mediate surrogate and maritime matters throughout the United States. He also has a broad range of knowledge in a wide variety of maritime matters that includes cargo damage, charter party disputes, collision litigation, towing, cruise ship passenger claims, groundings, Jones Act/unseaworthiness, and longshore harbor workers' personal injury claims. In addition to being considered one of the nation's foremost authorities in admiralty law, Judge Ingram served as Acting Surrogate in Kings and Richmond counties where he presided over more than a thousand cases involving contested will and estate claims, status of beneficiaries and guardianship/adoption disputes.
