On Saturday, March 13, 2010, NAM will be sponsoring the Fourth Annual Alley Oop for Autism 3 on 3 basketball tournament at Jericho High School in Long Island. All proceeds from the event will be donated to The Ascent School for Individuals with Autism, located in Deer Park, New York.
Ascent is a not-for-profit school for children diagnosed with autism and atypical pervasive developmental disorders. It provides a full day, 12-month academic and behavioral treatment program to children ranging from ages 3 to 21. Ascent serves children with severe behavioral issues who have experienced failure in the continuum of available public special education settings and require an extensive amount of individualized attention and intervention.
NAM is a strong supporter of children and families who struggle with autism and is hopeful that their contribution will successfully kick-off the event this weekend. NAM also supports the Make a Wish Foundation and Charley's Fund.
