THE HONORABLE KARLA MOSKOWITZ ON PANEL OF JUDGES FOR THE JALBCA ANNUAL MEMORIAL SYMPOSIUM

NAM (National Arbitration and Mediation) is proud to announce that the Honorable Karla Moskowitz will sit on the Panel of Judges during the Judges & Lawyers Breast Cancer Alert (JALBCA) Annual Ellen P. Hermanson Memorial Symposium entitled Cancer and Capitalism: Who Will Stand Guard in the Cancer Wars?  The seminar will be held at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, 425 Lexington Avenue, New York, NY from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Joining Judge Moskowitz on the Panel are Hon. Ellen Gesmer, New York State, Appellate Division, 1st Department and the Hon. Alan Scheinkman, Presiding Justice, New York State Appellate Division, 2nd Department. Hon. Helen Freedman (Ret.), New York State Appellate Division, 1st Department, will moderate.

In the age of genomic discovery, there have been exponential advances in molecular science and development of targeted therapies, but government support of medical research (particularly funding to the National Cancer Institute) has decreased significantly over time. With the pharmaceutical industry in the driver's seat for research, what does this portend for progress in the war on cancer?

Hon. Karla Moskowitz is a former Associate Justice, Appellate Division, 1st Department and a highly regarded NAM neutral. She has been an advocate for women attorneys and judges for decades and is a staunch supporter of women's rights and diversity in the workplace. Judge Moskowitz is also an active member of the Commercial and Federal Litigation Section of the New York State Bar Association.
