NAM (National Arbitration and Mediation) Neutral, Hon. John P. DiBlasi will moderate a panel discussion entitled Digital Currency: Internet Marvel Or Vehicle For Cyber Criminals? The interest in digital currency and blockchain is working its way into the practice of law. Law schools are developing courses around it and law firms are building practice groups devoted to regulation and distribution of cryptocurrencies. Just how do you “mine” money from ones and zeros?

Aaron Wright, Founder/Director of Tech Startup Clinic at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and co-author of the newly published book, Blockchain and the Law: The Rule of Code and Brian Bexler, Esq, Associate with LeClair Ryan, will join Judge DiBlasi on the panel.  Mr. Wright will address how blockchains are being used to create programs known as “smart contracts” and Mr. Bexler will discuss how digital currency is emerging as a new practice of law.

Hon. John P. DiBlasi is the former presiding Justice of the Commercial Division of the Supreme Court of the State of New York. For four consecutive years, he was voted the #1 mediator in the United States in the National Law Journal Annual Reader Rankings Survey and was voted the #1 Mediator by the 2018 Corporate Counsel Best of Survey.  For the second year in a row, he was named a National Law Journal 2017 Alternative Dispute Resolution Champion, as part of a select group of only 37 nationwide.  He was also voted,  in 2017,  one of the Top 10 mediators in the New York Law Journal Reader Rankings Survey for the eighth straight year.  Judge DiBlasi has arbitrated and mediated over 3,000 cases and his ADR practice centers on resolving Commercial, International, Finance, Employment, Entertainment, Land Use, and Professional Malpractice matters.
