ASSOCIATE JUDGE, HON. JENNY RIVERA TO HOST NYSTLA'S 51ST ANNUAL INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS AND DIRECTORS
The New York State Trial Lawyers Association (NYSTLA) will hold their 51st Annual Installation of Officers and Directors Ceremony on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Gotham Hall, 1356 Broadway, New York, NY 10018 from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. The Honorable Jenny Rivera, Associate Judge, New York State Court of Appeals will host the installation ceremony. David M. Oddo will be installed as NYSTLA's 51st President.
NAM (National Arbitration and Mediation) Neutrals, Hon. Karla Moskowitz, Hon. Larry S. Schachner, and Hon. Peter B. Skelos will attend the event on behalf of NAM.
Judge Moskowitz's remarkable judicial career includes 10 years spent as an Associate Justice at the Appellate Division, 1st Department. Prior to her service in the Appellate Division, she was elected and re-elected to the Supreme Court. For 5 years, she served with distinction in the Commercial Division where she regularly engaged in settlement negotiations regarding commercial related matters including contract interpretation and enforcement disputes as well as corporate, partnership, construction and international matters. Hon. Moskowitz has a broad range of knowledge in numerous practice areas that include commercial, appellate practice, banking and finance, construction, e-commerce, insurance, international trade, matrimonial, medical malpractice and trade secret matters.
Judge Schachner spent nearly 20 years as a judge in the various New York courts. In 2014, he was elected to the New York State Supreme Court, Bronx County at which time he was assigned to the Special Trial Part and regularly engaged in settlement negotiations regarding all pending, trial ready tort cases and commercial matters. Justice Schachner's reputation is that of being well-versed in the law and has handled of a myriad of case types that include labor law, medical malpractice, municipal liability, negligence, premises liability, real estate, tort and product liability and personal injury matters.
Judge Skelos is a former Associate Justice of the Appellate Division, 2nd Department. He is well-versed in the law and is a highly regarded mediator and arbitrator for NAM. He has arbitrated and mediated cases that include construction, commercial, professional liability, insurance coverage, matrimonial, medical malpractice and personal injury matters. For the second year in a row, in 2017, Judge Skelos was voted a Top Ten Mediator by The New York Law Journal Annual Reader Rankings Survey.
