He has been practicing law for over 20 years and is a seasoned litigator who has regularly appeared in the courtrooms of all five boroughs of New York City as well as Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester counties. He has extensive litigation experience and has handled personal injury, labor law, medical malpractice, wrongful death, trusts and estates and real estate matters. He is well known and highly respected by both defense and plaintiff attorneys alike and for his zealous advocacy on behalf of his clients.
Mr. Freitag is an avid proponent of Alternative Dispute Resolution, and has frequently served as a mediator and arbitrator in hundreds of cases involving complex litigation and catastrophic personal injuries. He has garnered a reputation for his fair valuation of claims and is dedicated in his effort to assist parties in moving cases toward resolution. In 2012, in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, Mr. Freitag served as a mediator in a program initiated by Governor Andrew Cuomo to settle claims made by homeowners adversely affected by the Super Storm.
His reputation, integrity and service have led to numerous appointments by the Surrogate and State Supreme Courts to positions of fiduciary responsibility wherein he has represented the needs of those unable to represent themselves. Mr. Freitag was the recipient of the 2013 “Advocate of the Year Award” by the Institute of Jewish Humanities for his dedication to the community and the legal profession.
