New York, NY (July 1, 2020) – NAM (National Arbitration and Mediation) is pleased to announce that Hon. Peter B. Skelos, J.S.C. (Ret.) and Gary H. Tabat, Esq. have been invited by the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers to present a live streaming continuing legal education (CLE) seminar entitled Fast-Tracking Matrimonial and Family Law Disputes Using ADR. This 1-hour free program is open to the public and will be held on Friday, July 10th at 1:00 p.m. ET. Joining Judge Skelos and Mr. Tabat on the panel will be Samuel J. Ferrara, Esq. and Andrea M. Brodie, Esq. of Abrams, Fensterman, Fensterman, Eisman, Formato, Ferrara, World & Corone LLP.
This expert panel will address why attorneys and litigants must come to understand that courthouse life in the post-pandemic world will only serve to exacerbate the problems of our historically overburdened matrimonial parts. Presenters will provide a better understanding why practitioners should strongly consider arbitration and mediation in their cases.
Topics will include:
- drafting ADR agreements;
- work-arounds to limitations on authority;
- creating binding finality of arbitration awards;
- and other strategies for matrimonial ADR.
