Peter J. Mastaglio, Esq. has been a strong proponent of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and is recognized as an experienced, knowledgeable attorney and a fair and thorough legal practitioner. With substantial experience handling commercial matters, as a mediator and as a litigator, he has successfully represented clients in a diverse range of matters that include employment, discrimination, real property taxation, eminent domain, zoning and land use, general contract and corporate law, constitutional law, real estate law, creditors’ rights, professional malpractice litigation and civil rights disputes.

Mr. Mastaglio has extensive trial experience in both state and federal courts, having represented numerous clients in arbitration, and has argued many appeals before the New York Court of Appeals, the Appellate Divisions of the New York State Supreme Court, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. He is a prominent commercial litigator, well known throughout the New York Metro area legal community, regularly appearing in the courtrooms of Kings, Queens, Nassau and Suffolk counties.

He is listed on the Roster of Mediators maintained by the Justices of the Appellate Division, Second Department, the United States District Court, Eastern District of New York and the Commercial Division, Supreme Court, Nassau County and Queens County. Mr. Mastaglio has been a mediator in numerous complex commercial cases and has served as a court-appointed receiver overseeing the marketing and auction sale of a block of commercial and residential properties. He has also acted as a Special Master to supervise discovery and rule on discovery issues in complex litigation.

As both a commercial litigator and mediator, Mr. Mastaglio has a wealth of experience handling, counseling, supervising and mediating hundreds of complex claims and lawsuits that include banking and finance, commercial and corporate, construction, labor law, professional malpractice and real estate matters. He has the ability to evaluate cases from all sides, having represented both plaintiffs and defendants and has negotiated settlements of multi-party disputes involving complex issues of law and legal relationships.

Mr. Mastaglio has consistently been named a New York Metro Super Lawyer for business litigation. Prior to entering private practice, his legal career began as a Captain, Judge Advocate in the United States Marine Corps, serving in Quantico, Virginia and the former Republic of Vietnam.
