HON. JOHN P. DIBLASI AND RICHARD BYRNE, ESQ. TO PRESENT A CLE SEMINAR ON “HOT TOPICS” IN THE ARBITRATION OF COMMERCIAL DISPUTES

NAM panel members Hon. John P. DiBlasi and Richard P. Byrne, Esq. have been invited to present a CLE seminar to the law firm of Reed Smith, LLP. The one hour CLE presentation entitled Arbitration of Commercial Disputes: Hot Topics and Tips From 3 Perspectives will be held at Reed Smith LLP, 599 Lexington Ave, 22nd Floor, New York, NY on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 5:00 p.m.

The CLE program will focus on the benefits of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), and more specifically, important issues that affect commercial disputes in arbitration today. Topics to be discussed include: the dynamics of the tri-panel; injunctive relief; managing electronically stored information (ESI) in arbitration; non-party subpoenas and sanctions for non-compliance; dispositive motions in arbitration; and default awards in arbitration.

Judge DiBlasi and Mr. Byrne will be joined on the panel by Casey D. Laffey, Esq, a partner at Reed Smith.

Judge DiBlasi is the former presiding Justice of the Commercial Division of the Supreme Court of the State of New York, Westchester County. For the fourth consecutive year, he was voted the #1 mediator in the United States in the 2017 National Law Journal Annual Reader Rankings Survey and for the second year in a row, he was named a National Law Journal 2017 Alternative Dispute Resolution Champion, as part of a select group of only 37 nationwide. He was also voted one of the Top 10 mediators in the 2016 New York Law Journal Annual Reader Rankings Survey for the seventh straight year. Judge DiBlasi has arbitrated and mediated over 3,000 cases and his ADR practice centers on resolving Commercial, International, Finance, Employment, Entertainment, Land Use, and Professional Malpractice matters.

For the third consecutive year, Richard P. Byrne, Esq. was voted one of the Top 3 Mediators in the country by the 2017 National Law Journal Annual Reader Rankings Survey, and for the second year in a row he was named a National Law Journal 2017 Alternative Dispute Resolution Champion, as part of a select group of only 37 nationwide. Mr. Byrne was also voted one of the Top 10 Mediators by the 2016 New York Law Journal Annual Survey for the third straight year. He has mediated matters involving a wide range of legal topics including insurance coverage, construction and commercial disputes, employment, property damage, risk transfer disputes and disability claims.
