HON. EDWARD W. MCCARTY III HONORED FOR HIS LEGAL SERVICES TO THE U.S. MILITARY

Hon. Edward W. McCarty III was recently inducted into the 7th Legal Operations Detachment Hall of Honor at the Fort Orange Club in Albany, New York. Judge McCarty was honored for his services as the Commander of the 7th where he supervised 50 attorneys, support staff and enlisted men and women, who provided legal services to Army Reserve soldiers, families, and retirees in the northeastern United States. The 7th is one of twenty-eight legal operation detachments in the country that operate under the U.S. Army Reserve Legal Command. Judge McCarty served in the United States Army Reserve, Judge Advocate General's Corps for 30 years and commanded the 7th for five. He retired from the Army Reserve as a Colonel in 2000.

In addition to his military service, Hon. McCarty has had a long and distinguished judicial career which includes sitting on the benches of the District, Supreme and Surrogate Courts in Nassau County. As a jurist, he has ruled over a myriad of case types that includes art valuation and ownership, commercial, government, insurance, international, medical malpractice, professional malpractice, personal injury, premises liability, professional liability and trusts and estates. He is known as a hard-working detail-oriented judge whose even-handed demeanor makes him highly effective in facilitating the resolution of complex matters. Upon retirement from the bench in 2015, he joined NAM where he now serves as an arbitrator and mediator.

Hon. McCarty is available to arbitrate and mediate cases throughout the New York metro area.
