NAM (National Arbitration and Mediation) panel members, Honorable Larry S. Schachner and Honorable Peter B. Skelos, have been invited to present a CLE seminar to the law firm of Ahmuty, Demers & McManus (ADM Law). The two-hour presentation entitled, Best Practices and Tips for Mediation – Perspectives from the Bench, will be held at ADM Law, 200 I.U. Willets Road, Albertson, NY 11507 on November 30, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. The CLE program will address the integral role of ADR in the resolution of matters in today's legal landscape and provide attorneys with practical tips on the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).

With a combined 40-plus years of judicial experience between them, Judge Schachner and Judge Skelos will share their unique perspective on the fundamental concepts of achieving success through ADR and more specifically mediation. The program will address a broad array of topics and will provide the litigator with an inside view of the ADR process including: ways to maximize the success of the mediation; preparing for the mediation; the facilitative and evaluative role of the mediator; the use of joint and break-out sessions; what to do when parties reach an impasse; approach and timing to resolution; drafting the post-mediation agreement; and judge/mediator assessment and responsibility.

Roy Israel, President and CEO of NAM stated: “I am so pleased when a prominent law firm such as Ahmuty, Demers & McManus invite our neutrals to speak on relevant matters. Judges Schachner and Skelos are two of NAM's highly-regarded hearing officers. Their collective expertise from years on the bench and as neutrals make them exceptionally qualified to teach best practices and tips on ADR and mediation. I am confident that all who attend will benefit greatly from what they have to say.”
