HON. PETER B. SKELOS AND GEORGE FREITAG, ESQ. INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN A MEDIATION WORKSHOP SEMINAR BY NYSTLI

NAM is proud to announce that two of its panel members, Hon. Peter B. Skelos and George Freitag, Esq., have been invited by the New York State Trial Lawyers Institute (NYSTLI) to participate in a two part CLE panel discussion entitled “Best Practices for Mediation and Settlement”. Mr. Freitag will be a panelist on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 and Judge Skelos on Tuesday, February 28, 2017. Both sessions will be held at the New York Trial Lawyers Institute, 132 Nassau Street, Suite 200 New York, NY from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.

The seminar will address a broad array of mediation related topics such as principles of valuating a cases, approach and timing to resolution, judge/mediator assessment and responsibility and views from both sides of the bar. Additionally, the panel will participate in a mock mediation with each member assuming the role of plaintiff, defendant and mediator.

Mr. Freitag will be joined on the panel with Alan L. Fuchsberg, Esq. (Chair), Daniel Weitz, Esq. (Special Moderator), Hon. George J. Silver and Howard Raphaelson, Esq. on February 7th. Judge Skelos will be joined on the panel with Mr. Fuchsberg, Mr. Weitz, Patrick Brennan, Esq. and William H. Groner, Esq. on February 28th.

George Freitag, Esq. is a strong proponent of Alternative Dispute Resolution and is a full-time neutral having mediated and arbitrated hundreds of matters involving complex litigation and catastrophic injuries. He has extensive litigation experience handling a wide variety of cases including personal injury, labor law, medical malpractice, wrongful death, trusts and estates and real estate matters.

Hon. Peter B. Skelos is a former Associate Justice of the Appellate Division, 2nd Department. He is well-versed in the law and is a highly regarded mediator and arbitrator for NAM. He hears a wide variety of case types including construction, commercial, professional liability, insurance coverage, matrimonial, medical malpractice and personal injury matters. Judge Skelos was voted a Top Ten Mediator by the 2016 New York Law Journal Annual Reader Rankings Survey.
