Schachner have been invited to speak at the New York State Bar Association's (NYSBA) Continuing Legal Education Program, Alternative Dispute Resolution in Personal Injury and Civil Litigation. The ADR full day program will be held at two locations on two separate days – Wednesday, October 3rd in Melville, NY and Thursday, October 4th in New York, NY.

More and more personal injury disputes are being resolved through mediation, arbitration and other forms of alternative dispute resolution (ADR). During these interactive programs, attendees will learn how insurance companies and claims adjusters approach mediation in personal injury matters and explore the ethical issues related to the increased use of ADR in civil litigation. Ms. Hernandez, Judge Palmieri and Judge Schachner will provide their professional insights and practical guidance on ADR, with a focus on how mediators or arbitrators handle personal injury disputes.

Ms. Hernandez will present 1-hour program, Mediation in Personal Injury Matters – The Mediator's Perspective, on Wednesday at the Long Island location.

Judge Palmieri and Judge Schachner will separately address the topic, Arbitration and Arbitration Agreements in Civil Litigation: Skills Refresher, at the Long Island and Manhattan locations, respectively. Following the presentations, both judges will participate in 1-hour panel discussions on Ethical Issues Related to Alternative Dispute Resolution in Personal Injury Cases.

Judge Daniel Palmieri has had a long and distinguished 25-plus year judicial career which includes 7 years as Justice of the Supreme Court, Tenth Judicial District. He has had numerous decisions published in the New York State Official Reports. He has handled a wide variety of case types both as a jurist and as a practitioner which include commercial, labor law, litigation, construction, professional liability, tort and product liability, matrimonial, real estate and personal injury. Hon. Larry S. Schachner served as a judge in the State of New York for nearly 20 years. He began his judicial career presiding over New York City residential landlord-tenant cases before being elected Judge of the Civil Court. In 2007, he was appointed Acting Justice of the Supreme Court and in 2014, he was elected as Justice of the Supreme Court. Judge Schachner has handled a wide variety of case types that include labor law, medical malpractice, municipal liability, negligence, premises liability, real estate, tort and professional and product liability and personal injury matters.
