New York, NY (March 29, 2018) – NAM (National Arbitration and Mediation) is proud to announce that the Honorable Peter B. Skelos and Richard P. Byrne, Esq. have been invited to speak at the 2018 American Bar Association (ABA) Section of Dispute Resolution Spring Conference in Washington, D.C. taking place April 4-7. More than 600 dispute resolution professionals from around the world are expected to attend. The 4-day global event will offer unsurpassed networking opportunities, as well as advanced educational seminars presented by key thought leaders in the dispute resolution field. The agenda will include programming on mediation, arbitration, negotiation, and specialty practice areas.
NAM is honored to participate as a Diamond-Level Sponsor for this year's event and will also serve as the exclusive host for the conference welcome reception – featuring opening remarks presented by Justice Skelos.
As part of the conference program, Justice Skelos and Mr. Byrne will conduct a 1-hour continuing legal education (CLE) panel discussion entitled, Mediation Construction Defect Claims as Catharsis – Legal and Therapeutic. Construction defect claims are incredibly complex, expensive and exasperating types of litigation. The seminar takes into account how numerous parties, extensive documentation, depositions and competing experts, along with underlying insurance coverage disputes and parallel declaratory judgment actions, cumulatively present the toughest legal and emotional challenges of the litigation process. The program addresses the alternative route of ADR as a cost-effective means to resolve these issues faster through mediation. The CLE will be held on Friday, April 6 from 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Judge Skelos and Mr. Byrne will be joined on the panel by Carolyn Crawford, Director of Construction Claims for Nationwide Insurance.
Roy Israel, President and CEO of NAM stated, “Judge Skelos and Richard Byrne's credentials are impeccable. Both are highly-regarded neutrals who are eminently qualified to address the complexity of construction defect claims. NAM is honored that a leading legal organization like the ABA have invited our neutrals to speak. No doubt, their knowledge and experience will offer all who attend an intellectually informative experience.”
Hon. Peter B. Skelos and Richard Byrne, Esq. are available to mediate and arbitrate cases throughout the United States.
