NAM panel member, Hon. Elizabeth Bonina, a former Justice of the Supreme Court, Kings County, has been invited to participate in a panel discussion offered by the Brooklyn Law School's Alternative Dispute Resolution Society. The presentation, The Future of Alternative Dispute Resolution, will take place on Monday, October 26th at the school's Subotnick Center from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.
The seminar will explore how ADR is an integral part of settling matters in today's legal landscape, and why third party mediation and arbitration makes sense when taking into account the rising cost of traditional litigation and the backlog of cases in the civil courts. The panel will also look at employment strategies for students interested in entering the ADR field.
Judge Bonina has been ranked by the New York Law Journal as the #1 arbitrator in New York State for three consecutive years (2015-2014-2013), and has been voted one of the top ten mediators in the state for six years in a row. She earned her B.A. from Villanova University and her J.D. from Brooklyn Law School, where she was awarded the Edward V. Sparer Public Interest Law Fellowship and the American Jurisprudence Award in Trial Advocacy.
She is the Co-Chair of the Brooklyn Bar Association's Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee and serves as a mediator and arbitrator for NAM where she hears cases throughout the NY Metro area.
