CLE: IF NOT NOW, WHEN? ACHIEVING EQUALITY FOR WOMEN ATTORNEYS IN THE COURTROOM AND IN ADR

Thursday, February 22, 2018

Paul Hastings LLP
200 Park Avenue
New York, NY 10166
Program: 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.

With the full support and commitment of the Commercial & Federal Litigation Section of the New York State Bar Association's leadership, a group of female alumnae chairs met and formed an ad hoc task force devoted to the issue of the dearth of women litigators in the courtroom and women who serve as arbitrators and mediators in complex commercial and international alternative dispute resolution (ADR).  Based on the results, the task force found continued disparity and gender imbalance in the courtroom and ADR case.

Susan Hernandez, Esq., a top mediator and arbitrator for NAM (National Arbitration and Mediation) and the #1 Mediator in New York State, will share her personal experiences as a woman and a minority in the courtroom and ADR with Women in EDiscovery.  Ms. Hernandez will lead an engaging interactive discussion on how the needle can be moved with the support of law firms, in-house counsel and outside-counsel and legal service providers to establish procedures and policies to increase the appointment of women and minorities as hearing officers in complex commercial ADR cases.
